going green

A friend of mine gave me a book a couple of years ago about how the most precious resource we have on earth is water. Not oil or natural gas, but water. I don't want to dismiss global warming
and the whole Al Gore thing, but as important as our atmosphere is and that if the polar ice caps melt any faster many coastal cities will become like Atlantis, but without fresh water life will cease. Not cease as we know it. Cease.

In some states and many countries this is not news, but I think most Americans would find it crazy to conserve water as demonstrated in this video. Just look at how much water we pour on our lawns during the dry months just to keep the grass green instead of letting it naturally go dormant. In the US the price of gas leads the news, but the amount of fresh water available in the world barely gets mentioned, much less thought about. Until water stops coming out of our faucets, will we think or do differently?
