simplifying one's life - the bare bones approach

I often read books and articles about simplifying one's life and have found myself befuddled, because I already do most of what these authors are suggesting I do. According to them I live a pretty simple lifestyle. But, I don't necessarily feel that way. I am often surrounded by clutter, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. I just am looking for ways to simplify which I think will result in greater productivity, less stress, etc.


But now, I have found the answer to simplifying my life. Do what is important and nothing else. Now that's bare bones.

The Short List
For the cynics who say that the list below is too long, there are really only two steps to simplifying:

  1. Identify what’s most important to you.
  2. Eliminate everything else.

Of course, that’s not terribly useful unless you can see how to apply that to different areas of your life, so I present to you the Long List.
